Open Source Software [OSS] includes software such as the GNU/Linux operating system, OpenOffice.org, GIMP, and FireFox. Many OSS software applications are cross-platform and as such can be run on Windows, Linux, and Mac. This includes many categories from finance, database, office automation, and graphics, plus much more. Linux is a great operating system but it's not for everyone although many could benefit from it. We support the major distributions such as Ubuntu (and variants), OpenSUSE, Red Hat (and variants), and Mandriva. Personally, we use Kubuntu on our desktops as our preferred distribution. Linux has been around for a long time. It began life as a project by Linus Torvalds, a student at the University of Helsinki, in 1991. Since then, it has grown into a full featured operating system which should be known as GNU/Linux because of the GNU tool set which is combined with the Linux kernel. It runs the world’s most powerful supercomputer down to hand held computers. With all that said, why should you try Linux?
Let us know and we'll help you decide if it is right for you or not. We can show you several of the leading distributions, especially for those that are known as user friendly. If Linux isn't right for you, we'll help you to use leading Open Source Software meant for your chosen operating system whether it be Windows or Mac.
